Response to Scott Carpenter and others. I would like to respond to the comments made by Scott Carpenter and others regarding our last email. Scott states he’s confused as to why Spokane Waste of Energy even exists. It’s quite simple, really. We exist because NOBODY WANTS TO PAY $100 PER TON WHEN THEY GO TO THE DUMP!
Scott also cites the many agencies that are the proper channel for grievances about the System. But it’s these same organizations that have gotten us to the point where we are now paying $100 per ton for waste disposal. The System is not the solution, it’s the problem.
Dennis Hein (City of Spokane) and Ken Gimpel (Waste Management) both agreed with Scott’s comments, and why wouldn’t they? The City of Spokane sucks $27,000,000.00 from the System’s budget, while Waste Management drains another $16,000,000.00. It’s in both of their best interests if the System continues with the status quo.
If Scott doesn’t realize that the System monopolizes waste disposal and then forces exorbitant fees upon its hapless ratepayers, then maybe it’s time for him to step down from SWAC, hopefully to be replaced by someone that is more concerned about the people that PAY the bills and less about Waste Management profits.
One final comment. Please note that they don’t refute the accuracy of the information on spokanewasteofenergy.com. |
